Bloc Party - A Weekend In The City

I wish i could say the same for Bloc Party’s A Weekend In The City. I’m not too sure what exactly has happened since the release of Silent Alarm but what ever happened it wasn’t good. Their new album is boring and dull. The instrumentation gets the silver medal if Silent Alarm got the gold. The lyrics aren’t interesting. If you can get past that the album is heavily over produced, it sounds like M83 is playing behind all the songs. There is synthesizer and electronic harmonies all over the tracks. Unless they added a few members don’t expect them to sound like the new album live. Uniform is the only song worth checking out. The interesting thing about this new album is it has a plethora of B-Sides, 90% of which are better than the songs on the album.
